1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole?
It is the setting of the film. Aside from that, its different exits shows the possible results when you are in a marriage.
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does?
It is to give the audience on where the story will revolve.
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve?
The repeated use of car, i think it is to show that they are closed in a place where they can't escape. There's even a scene that the wife wants to get out of the car but she can't. This is one way to face the problem that they have.
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.)
Yes. Sound is used to make the viewers feel the current mood of the film.
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes?
One example I can give is the scene where in it's night so everything is dark, it is as if to imply that their relationship is also in darkness.
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function?
The scene is cut when the car is in a exit in the NLEX.
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film?
I think it is the scene where the couple is decided to commit suicide.
8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest?
Yes, it will depend on how the viewer wants to end the story.
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image?
Because it is up to one's decision on how they will deal with infidelity.

1. the title has a great relation to the movie itself. it is because the north diversion road is the place where the flow of story happens. it also suggests that life is like a road that every path we take has a great effect not only on us but also on the people that were riding with.
2. the film starts in that manner to help the audience understand better the flow of the story, to have a clearer mind of what the story is all about.
3. yes, there are a lot of scenes and images that are being repeated. some of them are the same scenes before the episode starts, the same car that is being use by the different character in the film. this serves as the symbol in the film that suggest different conflicts and different characters on how they will handle such things like that.
4. YES
5. the film use colors to suggest tone and mood in different scenes. they use dark backgrounds to show that the scene is having a serious conversation, and they use light colors when the characters on the particular scene is not that serious and sometimes funny.
6. the scenes were cut when the wife in the story told her husband that she knew all the malicious acts that were being done by her husband. and it serves as a pattern to the story. 7.i think the last episodes constitutes the climax of the film. and this scene resolve the central issue of the film by making realize of the infidelity of the husband through his wife. and he also compose a song for his wife.
8. YES, because not all of us have the same point of view in terms of love.
9. the film conclude on this particular manner to suggest that we should be faithful, loyal to our partners in life, for us to have a better relationship with one another. because i believe in the saying that "love begets love". and nowadays the issue about having a third party in a relationship is being increased. that is not a good image in one's couple. this film show us and make us understand about the consequences that might happen to the couple.

1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? I believe the title of the film is symbolic. I think the title itself North Diversion Road suggests infidelity. And since the north diversion road has quite a lot of exits, I think those exits convey different ways of how couples deal, fix or solve their problems when one of them is guilty of infidelity or adultery and I could also sense the title also suggest change or transformation.
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? I think the film start the way that it does because it wants to communicate the conflict between the couple. As I can remember the film starts when they were driving the length of San Fernando exit, I think it’s a symbol that they were taking the first step of fixing their problem which is the confession of the wife to her husband of her suspicions and everything she knows about the betrayal of her husband.
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve?
One thing that I have observed is the recurrence of the central idea (infidelity of man) all throughout the movie and how various couples deal with it. The scenes serve as an illustration of how different types of couple face this problem. With ten different couples, we see ten different reactions to the issue. With the aid of those scenes we are able to realize what has been the common issue why couples are having a hard time dealing with this problem. It has shown different characteristics of pairs that could have been one of the few hindrances for them to be able to fix their problem and live harmoniously together.
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (I.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.)
The film has used sound as another symbol aside from it enhanced the film.
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes?
As I have observed, the film make use of day and night to suggest the tone and mood of the play.
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function?
The scenes are cut whenever it had already shown how couples decided to fix their problem (I think whenever they had already passed through an exit). It normally starts with a recurring scene (which is the one where the wife is asking her husband to tell something) then after that another episode/another exit will be shown. I think that is the pattern.
(Pattern: The recurring scene then an episode/another exit)
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film?
The film’s climax would be the part which revealed that May (Irma Adlawan) is suffering from a disease.
It has resolved the problem in a way that the husband got guilty and from that point on he decided to ask for exoneration of his wrongdoing to his wife and he is even willing to change and ready to start it all over again.
On the other hand, the wife knowing that she only has little time left had forgiven her husband and she even enjoin her husband to be with his concubine whenever she’s gone.
8. Does the film leave any disunity (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest?
I think there is a loose end since the movie ends and we don’t know what happen to the three of them. We don’t know if the husband had really changed so on and so forth.
I just suggest that anything can happen.
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image?
I think it the film conclude on that scene to signify the nature of man. Since man normally realizes his mistakes and wrong doings when there is an event that would agitate them to change. Like in the movie, the husband has got to recognized that he’s off the beam when he came to know the situation of his wife. It is just a lesson that we should not let a moment to arrive before we realize our mistake. Thus, a husband/wife should act in infidelity and should remain faithful to each other forever.

I believe that the purpose of this repitition is to emphasize the unfaithfulness of the husband to is wife. tsk, tsk. 4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) Yes! It makes the film more lively. haha.. ;D 5. The climax of the story is when the couple have to settle their arguments about the husband's unfaithfulness. 8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? Yes. Maybe, to suggest that the issue about this "unfaithfulness thing" is not over yet. 9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? 1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole?Just talking about the title would give you an even more precise analysis of the movie itself. As named by its writer, North Diversion Road would focus on different paths people choose to take. Detour is what diversion exactly means providing us an image that one will take a different path from what really was planned. Eventually, as the story went on, the image encountered was observed. Various versions were rendered but only of one thought, unfaithfulness in relationship.
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? Motif defenitely was illustrated on the first part of the movie. It sure did gave emphasis on the second thoughts I think the husband had, mixed with fear of being caught. As expected from the wife, she already had suspicions of what his husband really is busy of. It seemed like the question that arouse in the beginning was the main passage discussed on the film. It all began with such a simple question that meant a lot for the both of them that paved way to lots of disastrous endings.
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? I’m not sure if there are anymore motif shown in the movie but as I said earlier, the beginning of the movie where the wife asks her husband why he is some sort of bothered definitely is of the emphasis through repetition. As I have observed, the environment or rather the setting of the story was in the car. I think it was also one of the motifs shown but not that visible. Last thing I remembered, switching of the one who will drive also was given emphasis on the film. If it wasn’t done on purpose, they should have just let just one of the couple to take charge on driving. It was also a part of what they always talk about.
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (I.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) Though the film, as I’ve watched wasn’t clear enough for me to understand every single detail, the breeze was effectively demonstrated on the movie. It did symbolized the thinking of one of the couples or the both of them.
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? Ow, that’s one thing I’ve not noticed much in the story. One thing I remember now is that those on the night seemed a bit more controlled with their emotions compared to that of the day. What I’m trying to say is that those of the night are somehow like professional people or better said matured in terms of talking to each other. Evidence of such claim is that the calm introductory question was always been at night.
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? Not much of an observation I had with its transition but it sounded like every exit they are headed on proves a different story. It’s often shown in the beginning of a new episode which makes me conclude that by some chance the exit was not even taken. Relating it to my earlier opinion, exits are different paths but the diversion didn’t let them reach their destination since they took a different path which is leaving each other, dying alone, taking up suicide. I think whenever something bad happens, the episode ends. Was it like that?? I hope..
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? The climax was not mentioned well I guess but just observing the connection of each episode, it would let me choose the episode where the couple decided to take suicide and die together. It was the part I never forgot until now. The previous episodes ended with not so tragic ending and so did the next episodes as well. 8. Does the film leave any disunity (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? I think the loose end would be of that episode where the wife seemed tom me like she has got few more months to stay with her husband not because of any decision to leave him but because of one inevitable thing, death. No matter how much couples love each other, when destiny asks for it, death definitely will be granted. No one can stop such thing which we all will have to face someday. But the hanging part was that the husband sounded like he is of to a new beginning. If we will take it unto real life application of it, the thought simply is that there is always hope. It’s never too late to do what you wanted to.
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? As quoted in the famous saying, “nasa huli ang pagsisisi”, a portrayal of man’s infedility is the best example. True-to-life indeed yet always forgotten. We often realize things when we’ve got not even a single resort to choose from. The story doesn’t actually impose that man are worst because they are unfaithful in general, the thing is, even the wife admits her mistakes in the end. If only things were settled earlier, such finale wouldn’t have happened. But life is the way it is. We can’t erase any wrongdoings we once had and replace it with a better future. If it’s done, it’s done.

1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole?
aside from being the setting of the film, i think the title 'sa north diversion road', especially the word 'diversion', suggests the deviation of the men shown in the film from the behavioral norms of the society - that is, instead of being faithful to their wives, they chose to be involved with another woman..
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does?
i think the film started that way to give the viewers an idea on what the film is about..
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve?
the repeated scenes, i believe, are there to remind the viewers that communication must always be present in a relationship, and that 'silence is rarely a refuge.' (quoted from 'the five people you meet in heaven' by mitch albom)..
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.)
yes, sound is used to help in expressing the emotion being conveyed in each scene..
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes?
scenes which are quite light in emotion are taken in daylight, while scenes which suggests heavy feelings are taken in the night or with a dark setting..
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function?
scenes are cut when the emotion present in them have already subsided..i haven't noticed any pattern in the way the scenes are cut since i was not able to watch the film well..
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film?
i think the film's climax is when the wife revealed that she is sick and nearly dying..for me, this shows that life is too short for us to waste on things which won't do any good to us and which won't bring us true and genuine happiness..
8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest?
yes, it did..i think they are made to let the viewers decide on what will be the ending..
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image?
i believe that it is to better impart the lesson of the film to the viewers..
..how unfortunate that my posts always lands on gray..it would look really better on black..

1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? Becuase divertion means a temporary distraction from more routine or serious matters . 2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? In my view, I think that it starts that way for the viewers to fully understand the reason for the problem in the story 3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? Yes there is. The scenes wherein the wife keeps on asking his husband on what does he feel and if he has something to tell. In my outlook, that scene is being repeated because the husband can't say what he really feel and what he really have to say about his unfaithfulness because it will hurt his wife's feelings. 4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) Yes. 5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? They have used it to enhance the film and make it more effective. 6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? The scenes are cut after each dialogues are over. Yes, I think that there is a pattern because there is a corresponding title for each scene which is one after another. 7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? The husband realizes his fault. the wife in the other hand has cancer and she wants his husband to marry his other woman. i think t resolves the central issue because in the end, they have reconciled. 8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? For me, It suggest that there is still hope for those who suffers the same glitch in their lives like of that in the story. 9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? Like of what i've said, there's hope.
