1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? The title "Sa North Diversion Road" is the main setting of the story. It is also symbolic as it suggests the kind of life the couple will be undergoing in their life as married couples. 2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? The film started that way to suggest waht is likely to happen in the story. In other words, it foreshadows the next scenes. It speaks about the unfaithfulness of the husband. 3.Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? Yes, there are. In every beginning. the wife would say "kumusta ka na? Magkwento ka naman..." These words of the wife begins the quarrel as the husband tells or shares some things to her wife. 4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) Yes. The sound was used in enhancing the film. Like for example, when the scene is melancholic, the sound is full of sadness. When there is a heightened tension, the sound would be something that would make you feel the scene; the nerve. 5.How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? During times of heightened tension, the color is light. During serious times, the color is dark. Therefore, the color of each scene is used to emphasize and suggest the mood and tone of each. 6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? The scenes are cut when the couple stop their quarrel. There would be a little time of silence and then, the scene would be cut. 7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? The climax of the film could be the scene when the wife had mental disorders. In order to resolve this, the couple end up committing suicide. 8.Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? I do think so. It is not clear to me why the story went the way it did. 9.Why does the film conclude on this particular image? The image suggest what happened to the relationship of the couple.

1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? The film setting is in the north diversion road. there are different exits shown in the film that shows different type of characters and scenes with the same conflict. I think, that the movie shows how different people act in a same situation.
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? To show the conflict of the story. I think it foreshadows what is the film all about.
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? There is a scene and images that are repeated, like the scenes before the start of each films, I think it foreshadows what is going to happen. The same car is also used by each characters, I think they serve as a symbol that the characters are going through the same path or having the same conflict in their relationship. I've also notice the repetition of the orange, butong pakwan and tissue paper..
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) sound effects are used a bit. but natural sounds are present, but it adds up the emotion. there is also a song that is played in the later part of the film...
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? I've noticed that the color or the light used in the film differs depending on the mood or tone of the scene. They use dark color or dim light suggesting seriousness of the scene, like for example the scene of the police man and his wife from the hospital, and the first couple. lighter color is used when the scene is not serious or the scene has a light approach sometimes funny.
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? I think there is a pattern in scene cuts... After a discussion between the couple there is a period of silence.
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? I think the climax of the film is the continuation of the cut scenes in before each scenes.. It tells the whole story of the film... It shows what the movie is all about... It gives the conclusion...
8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? I think their problem is not yet solve... they didn't agree on a same opinion... the film ended in a long silence of the couple with tears and with a same song playing that is played in the other part of the film... I think it suggest that there is still a problem unsolved...
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? I think that the image conclude that they will still be going to the same path... There is still an unsolved problem... they didn't agreed on a same perspective.. It was not yet finish... It doesn't have a very good happy ending... the film ended hanging.... but they have shared what they think... and expressed their feelings about each other and about the situation

1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? I think the relation of the title to the film Sa North Diversion Road as a whole is that when you analyze the title it says that the couple will break up because the word diversion. 2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? I think the film start in that way is that to emphasis the unfaithfulness of the husband. 3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? I think there are nine motifs of dialogue which are repeated. First the old genre couple second the talkative genre couple third the silent type genre couple fourth the happy type genre couple and the fifth is the serious type in a sense that the wife became crazy when she knew that his husband had another woman sixth the couple with high pride. The couple committed suicide the seventh was the wife is over judgment she killed his husband when she knew that his husband had an affair with another woman. The eight was there are not couple. They are just friends and the ninth was, it is the real thing happens to them on the road that they choose to happen. The wife has a disease and the husband want to change but is it too late. I think the purpose of that is to inform us that there are many different kinds of people here in our country or Filipinos. There are person who is a silent type even though you do all the backstab thing he wouldn’t utter as single word. There is a person that gets the entire problem in this world but you would see him or her smiling it is like there is no problem at all. 4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) Yes, it gives the film color and life. It emphasizes the scene for example when the scene is happy the sound should be jolly. ;D 5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? Yes the film uses many different colors depending on the motifs of the characters. It uses color black when the characters or the setting is serious. It uses light colors when the characters or the setting is jolly. 6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? The scenes cut when the two couple expresses all their feeling or when they bring out their emotions and when the quarrel becomes to an end. Yes as I said when the couple expresses all their feelings and brings out what really inside of them. The film has no end. 7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? I think when the couple arguing with each other in the sense that the woman putting hands to his husband. When they stop doing things that irritate his/her partner. 8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? Yes because the film or the director wants us to choose what path we want to drive or walk. We should think what the best is and we should also think the right path. If you are in the wrong track you should detour to the right track. 9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? I think the film concludes on this particular image of the movie to state or give emphasize that we have different track in our life. Ever individual has a different path to choose from. And upon viewing the film the film teach us the right path. Lim, James Anthony O MPT3
