1. Did you like this film in general? Why? - Yes, I did like the film, because it highlighted the significant moments in Rizal's life in which we should know. It’s educational and entertaining as well. 2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? -Yes, I do agree. The main theme of the film, just what I’ve said in the first question, it highlighted the significant moments in rizal's life. I agree as well to the purpose of the film, I think it aims to open the eyes of the viewers in the real story of Rizal's journey on how he made things for our country. 3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? - I like the part when he was still a child and he had many queries from his parents and to his brother. Because it goes to show that he is an intelligent person. i disliked the part where they tortured paciano because its a bit gory and hard to watch. 4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? - i have learned that perseverance is a good key to success. When you want something to be done, you have to do all your best to achieve your goal. I also learned to be concern to our country especially on the issues that our country is facing. 5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? -for me, the actors did a good job in portraying the life of jose rizal. They gave their best and all of their effort to this. I just have a comment regarding the film; it’s somewhat confusing because of the flashbacks inserted and the scenes of noli and el fili. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend furthering enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? - I wouldn’t really change a lot, but if I were to film a movie about rizal, maybe i wouldn’t mix all the scenes up. I would like to see his life from the beginning of his childhood to his death in an orderly manner. ;D

Answer: 1. I Liked the film in general, because it tells a lot about our history, especially those times when our country was suffering from Spain...Though, we are not able to finish watching it ...It was really a good movie to watch for us to know also more about our National Hero. ;D 2. I agree about the film's purpose which was an eye opener for all of us, the movie really shows how much our country suffered from Spaniards.. and how did they really fought for our freedom. 3. What I like the most from the movie is that it really gives us a picture of what exactly had happened on that time. It's sad to see on how Filipinos miserably lived before. I dislike the part that the film did not show more about Rizal's personal life..I guess, they should have shown more about Rizal's travels to different places too. 4.The film did tells us a lot of lesson... for me, I learned to love my country, culture and fight for what you believe. 5.I think the staff did well in the film, because its a good film.. its the product of their sweat and labor..it deserves a compliment from its viewers. 6. I guess, the film don't need that much enhancement.. a little maybe.. overall, the movie is great and will make all Filipinos proud of.

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? >>i liked the film in general because i appreciated the efforts of making that movie. I gained knowledge about Dr. jose rizal through this. I've been wanting to watch that movie for so long.. ;D 2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? >> Of course. All of us want to be knowledgeable about Dr. jose rizal and the movie didn't fail to give that. The movie wanted the Filipinos to be touched by Dr. Rizal's life story and i think that all of us deserve to know that. 3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? >>LIKES: i liked the effects, the settings, costumes, the choice of actors, the controversies shown, etc. DISLIKES: the phase was too fast. 4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? >>I learned from watching the film that we have to love our country. We should fight for it and not to let anyone take its liberty. 5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? >>YES! i think the whole movie was a wonder. BUT i think that Cesar Montano didn't play that well in the scene where Simon was talking to him. i think that was not his 100%. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? >>I think it would be cooler if the life(love life) of Dr. Rizal in Japan and other countries was included- for example : the story between Jose Rizal and Osaisan. >that would interest the students(hehe)

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? >>>Yes, i liked the film. actually, i find it inspiring and interesting. the movie showed the kind of life during the spanish era and its hard to live like that. rizal, as shown in the movie, took all the possible chances he had to have a better living and serve his country, he worked hard for it and for me that is indeed inspiring.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? >>>yes, because it focused on rizal's life: his achievements and hardships. the movie was able to convey its purpose to the people, which is naturally, to show the life of rizal and the life during the spanish era and that is what the viewers should know and realize.
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? >>> i liked the part where he answered back to his professor in the university. for me, he showed that filipinos should not be belittled and that filipinos are intelligent. i disliked the part that he got in-loved with his cousin, though it really happened, i just can't imagine to be in loved with one of your relatives, it disgusts me.
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? >>>I have learned that patience will always lead to something good. patience will always give you presence of mind which will enable you to think and act according to the situation. one thing that rizal has, and one thing that i admired in him.
5. Did the author/actors/director did a good job in the film? Why or why not? >>>as for my opinion, they did great. the actors portrayed a great character of rizal. the scenes about noli and el fili were great as well, but at the last part of it the story of the book, it seemed like different and confusing from what i have read in the book.
6. What particular changes would you like to recommend furthering enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? >>>maybe it would be better if they also focused on rizal's deeds as doctor and elaborated his love life as well so that it would be a little clear if his a playboy or a gay..hehehehe

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? >>>Yes, the film was pretty good- this si the 2nd time ive seen it. The 1st time was when the filipino community in the US celebrated rizal day back before i was in high school. I didnt appreciate it back then because i didnt know who jose rizal was and i didnt understannd any of his work. But now- years later, i have read both his books and i understand his point of view- so i enjoyed the movie the 2nd time around 2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? >>>i think the film aimed to show rizals point of view when it comes to how to deal with the spanish- it effectively describes his non-violent approach to equality between the spanish and the filipino. the film also accomplishes its goal of showing rizal as a larger than life hero- but what the film did really well was show that he was also human and he had very human fears. 3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? >>> Likes: i like how they made rizal look like a hero, but that he also had flaws. i liekd the setting and the authenticity (use of spanish language and not just tagalog). Montano as rizal was a great casting choice. The actor that played jose taviel was also at the top of his game. Dislikes: whenever the movie shifts out of the present timeline and shows scenes from rizal's books, it was a bit confusing. These scenes would not have made any sense unless the viewer has already read the book. 4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? >>> the roaring fires of revolution begin with a spark. jose rizal was that spark....wow.... (but seriously- even those that went down in histoy as a legend have flaws and fears.) 5. Did the author/actors/director did a good job in the film? Why or why not? >>> yeah- the film was well made. Cesar montano was spot on as rizal (uncanny resemblance) and his acting was transcendant- not many filipino actors are willing to learn spanish and swede ( whatever language they spoke in the printing press scene) just for one movie. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend furthering enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? >>>i dont know much about rizal,(We didnt have rizal subjects where i went to school) but i heard he was quite the ladies man- so i would think that it would be more entertaining if the film went into detail with some of his other relationships with women in other countries. But thats me being shallow. A less shallow improvement would be for the film to explain the scenes from his novels a bit better for those who have not read his books. but im not sure how- im not a director.

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? I liked the film, for I can relate to all that has happened in the time of Rizal. I was in high school when I had seen this film; our teacher is a Rizalista so she made everyone of her students appreciate Rizal. This movie reminds me of my teacher for she always tells us, that Rizal should be reminded in our heart. When I watched this movie it gave me a clear picture of what was happening at that time, and the trials Rizal encountered in the hands of the Spainiards. “Two thumbs up”.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? I agree with the purpose the movie wants to convey to the viewers, this movie not only depicts what happened in the Spanish regime but also the same passion Rizal has, Love our country, language and ourselves. Rizal’s movie is a good motivation to the youth to voice out opinions and ideals that could help for the betterment our country.
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why?
Rizal’s love for our nation, because Rizal made our country famous that we are to be proud that we are Filipinos. The patriotism Rizal has shown is admirable for not only he was known in other countries, the knowledge he gained from his travels, was shared to our countrymen by the sense of his writings that implies freedom in all of us.
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film?
The Lesson I have learned in this film are too many to count that’s why I had chosen the most important is to be proud as a Filipino.
5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not?
Everyone did a very good job, because not only did they show what was the original setting, also the drama and reality of the scenes that was portrayed.
6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved?
For me there could be some changes in the picture quality, but back in the time this was filmed the cameras are in top of the line, but if it will be remake I am sure that the quality of the picture will be enhanced. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? >>> YES i appreciated the movie this time compared when i watched it on a movietheater way back when i was a child. I think that reading the 2 novels first would make someone like this movie as Rizal tried to show the inequality between Spaniards and Filipinos, the rich and the poor and the slow progress of the lives of the Filipinos because they ae lacking in education. 2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? >>> Definitely it was not far from Rizal's ideals. After watching the movie, i just figured out that he wanted the Spaniards to stay but equality must first set in and for their part, its not gonna happen. rizal'sife and his sacrifices were given importance. 3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? why? >>> i liked the part when the assistant tried to say that Rizal was really educated and where was he now-in a jail, a prisoner and the assistant said "sayang naman, tignan mo ko walang alam kaya walang kaaway" but then Rizal said Education will really set us free. and also when they were speaking Spanish and the way actors have shown us how brutal the Spaniards were. dislike: when the movie got boring and maria clara started singing and all that stuff. 4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? >>> that we should not be blinded but what spaniards had done to us though they already contributed a lot-from religion to cultures. it is somewhat being free from ignorance that was why Rizal put a lot of effort in Education. 5. Did the author/actors/director did a good job in the film? Why or why not? >>> Yes they made me realized tjat once there was this guy-now a hero who stood up for the filipinos but i got confused in the end since rizal didnt turn around when he was about to be shot. the actors did their best. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend furthering enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? >>>they should improve the way they cahnge their scenes from past to present. sometimes it was so sudden to the point that i was confused already.

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? YES, because I was able to understand the life of Rizal even better. Good thing they produced a film about him. I liked this film in general for I was able to visualize what I read on articles and books about him. It was a two way purpose for me haha. I liked it that I learned something about our great hero and that I enjoyed a lot because every word I read on books, which I honestly do not understand sometimes, was put into action. It was not a boredom for me.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? YES, because i simply understood it. haha! I was able to comprehend most of the details about Rizal. I think their purpose was to make people understand more about Rizal in a simplier way. And they gladly made it.haha!
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? I liked the scene where Rizal's family was having their fine dining. It was on his young age where elders were talking about something. His opinion was not badly needed but he still expressed what his mind was about to say. It was a joke but I really got his point when he said," Nanay, bakit ang mga matatanda pwede makisabat sa usapan ng bata pero ang mga bata bawal makisabat sa usapan ng matatanda. Diba hindi naman makatarungan yon.haha." He meant what he said for he fought for what he thought was right.Imagine, at his young age he was able to express himself in a way that someone will really be able to think twice( has double meaning) It takes alot of courage to stand on what he believed was right and fair.[palakpakan haha]. I also remember when he said,"Okey lang banggain ang pader kung isisiwalat naman non ang katotohanan[parang ganon XD]." It's like tapping you on your back for you to turn around and see what you cannot see from behind.
I couldn't remember a scene that i honestly disliked.
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? I learned so many lessons from the film. But the lesson which i think i will always remember by heart is that," Maliit man, nakakapuwing din, haha!" Even if others think that we are last from the line and we cannot achieve what others do achieved, we shall not step back and be out of the line. Because i know in myself that there will always be a special moment for us. Kahit na abutin ng taon, ang mahalaga we never step back. We will be recognized and never be left behind. Filipino is a Filipino and with pride we shall be proud of our country. We are different and we will be known for that.[syempre on the positive side.] Maliit man o malaking karangalan, dapat parin natin itong ikarangal dahil kapag pinagsama sama mo lahat ng maliliit na iyon, marami nadin at malaki. haha!
5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? Yes,not just good but great.haha! It is because producing a film of a well known hero is not that easy. You have to research and be mindful of Rizal's life, from the very simple things up to the "boom boom pow" events. The life span of Rizal has a lot of twist ,and for them to be able to dig it up, it is simply amazing. Preparing the set to make it more realistic was also an added point for them. And looking for great actors was so smart. They chose professional actors that can portray each significant character with conviction. They owned it and they gladly made it. IT WAS GENERALLY A SUCCESS!
6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? The particular changes that i would like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film are: 1. the location of other scenes( some are not particularly identified and also it would be a lot better if they shoot it on the places where it actually happened. So that the viewers will be able to appreciate it more. They need a bigger budget badly of course. hahaha!) 2. the language mainly used ( The actors tend to eat some words because of the language they are not really particular with. Or maybe it was just because of the sound/audio.(nabingi lang siguro ako haha!) But good thing that they put subtitle haha."buti na lang XD") 3. the transition of the story ( if the producers wished to make a film for everybody, maybe they should also focus on the transition. It is because not all filipinos are very particular with the life of Rizal. Maybe a little improvement on that will do. So that everyone can easily catch up.)

Evaluation Questions on Jose Rizal Movie?
1. Did you like this film in general? Why? ~ Yes, I like the meaningful story of the film because it is a story of how a great Filipino from the past battled for his countrymen without even holding a deadly weapon. What was deadly material he used was his pen and his novels which then, killed the Spaniards' dignity.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? ~I agree with it. The film was able to show the lives of the Filipinos under the cruelty of the Spaniards and how they bravely fought for their country. (It was only through this film that I knew Rizal doesn't want his death to be remembered) ;D
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? ~I like how the film showed Rizal's life through flashback scenes (His childhood when Paciano made Rizal realized how cruel the Spaniards were). What I dislike is how the stories of his novels were shown. If I was not able to read his two great novels, I may not understand what those scenes in black and white color are for. Confusions will then arise.
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? ~I have learned that we should always fight for what we think is right considering that it is really right.
5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? ~In general, they did a good job. They were able to make every scenes not so boring and the whole story will not be possibly liked without the good act of the actors. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? With regards to the enhancement of the quality of the film, I suggest no more because it is already in high quality. But I guess it will have an improvement if the two novels of Rizal will be from a different film (just a thought).

Pagdanganan, Jane D. BSN043 1. Did you like this film in general? Why? Yes, I like the the film so much not just because of the inspiration the it gives me but it makes me feel so proud of being a Filipino by the mere fact that I am watching a great person that is not just eminent in his native land but also in the world. 2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? Yes, i definitely agree on the theme/purpose that the film wanted to convey because it just mirrored the Philippines' situation way back to the Spanish colonization that would probably makes its viewers(Filipinos or foreigners) feel the sacrifices and dilemmas that our ancestors had to achieve the freedom that we are experiencing in our time. 3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? I do liked all that had shown in the film no one that specifically liked most but what I specifically do not like about the film is that it did not answer some of my long time question in my mind such as if Josephine and Rizal got married, how the body took care after he died and many other details that had different versions and interpretations from one author to another. 4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? I had learned and realized that a Filipino is not just a Filipino. We had a lot of heroes in the past that did great deeds for others and had impact on us. We should be proud of what we are and if times we ourselves feels we have run out of reason to be proud of being a Filipino based on what our current situation shows particularly in our political and government situations, like what Rizal did, we should make a difference. We should make a reason for our fellowman and country to be proud of. 5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? Yes, the author/actors/director did a great job in the film because they really had made me feel that I'm watching the real event that happened in the past. And they never failed in their aim to make the watchers not just entertained but feels something nationalistic(at least I think majority did). The actors are really great and they are so convincing on the part that they are portraying. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? I would probably suggest and recommend that they should show some events in Rizal's life and death the one that was given different interpretation and stories by the different authors of his biography. Same as what I had noticed that I didn't like regarding the film, it does not shows and clarified some of the things that crumpled my mind. But over all, the film is really good and it is world class like the person it talked about.
