1.Did you like this film in general? Why? Yes because I really wanted to watch this film when it was released but I failed to do so. Every Filipino should watch this film to know more about our National Hero.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? I agree the purpose of the film is clearly to rely Jose Rizal’s life to Filipinos. Important event’s were noted in the film as well as Rizal’s novels.
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why?
I like the fact that the story also revolved around Jose Rizal’s novels and not just about his life. What I don’t like about the film was the fact that it didn’t clearly discussed about Jose Rizal’s lovelife and his travels around the world.
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? That we Filipinos should be proud of the color of our skin, our own language and to learn to love our own culture and country.
5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? Yes the director did well in the film because the plotting was very good and it feels like that the places were really the exact images of Bagumbayan, ateneo municipal etc. decades ago.
6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved The cd was off a bit in the later part of the story, but overall the movie was so great as well of it’s movie quality that it can compete internationally I think.

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? Yes. I like the film because I am interested with Rizal's life story, though it was short. Also it gave me an overview about his life. It was my first time to watch it, so I liked it.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? Yes, I agree with it, because it flashed back the way how Filipinos lived under the Spaniards before. It showed how cruel they are, and how brave and upright Rizal was.
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? What I like about the film is that it clearly showed how Rizal was caught and executed, and how Taviel treated Rizal, aside from being Rizal's lawyer but also as a companion and a friend, eventhough his a Spaniard.
What I don't like about the film was that it was short. The other stories of his life and his novels was not clear for me. Because I have expected that it was a long film.
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? The lesson I have learned is that, being always upright and if you think and know that you are right, stand up and fight for your right.
5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? Yes they all did a great job! Becasue the story itself is hard to know exactly. Who's the reliable person to ask, how to make the film look like real. The whole film was a product of hardwork and dedication.
6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? There's no other problem I see, the quality of the film was really good. I think it gained a lot of good comments, appreciation and appraisals.

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? >Yes, I really like the film since it is a part of our history as a people and as a country. As part of the young generation it has given me the insight what has our country and the people have suffered to have the freedom that we are enjoying now. 2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? >Yes I agree with the theme because it shows how hard Rizal and other Filipinos fought for our freedom. It is not about to brag their hardships but to give more credit to what they have done for us. 3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? >I like that the film shows flashbacks when Rizal was young. It makes the story quite light . One more thing it showed how much bravery and faith the Filipinos are.Dislikes? I think none unless I've seen the whole film but unluckily we didn't finished the film. 4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? >To stand for what you believe is right and to always consider the welfare of the majority. Like what Rizal conveys that there is a right time to do what you planned and it should be planned well enough not to cause greater trouble. He also showed that education can make a graet impact in one's life. 5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? >It's a job well done for the author, actors and the director. They have shown great effort to make the setting ancient, the wardrobes and the actors speak Spanish. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? > I think the film is not well budgeted. The setting is quite not so convincing and the Spaniards do not speak their language fluently. They should have gotten real Spaniards to make the film more realistic and convincig. But to sum it up it's good.

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? >I like it even if we didn't able to finish the whole film because it tends to open up our eyes in the reality of our past. That we should be proud of our heroes-because they are the one who bring us back our pride and freedom among the cruel conquerors and they are the reason why we are setting our foot now in this land.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? >Yes! It portrays how great was the life of Rizal and the other heroes before and it measures the bravery of the Filipinos...
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? >What I like most in the story is when the Filipinos fight back with the Spaniards even if they knew the fact that their "itak" is nothing compared with the weapons of their enemies, it didn't turn them down... They only have their faith, courage and "love" for their motherland to fight and it was enough. >What I dislike most is when it left me hanging on the space meaning "bitin or kulang"! haha
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? >DEATH is an absolute truth in the future so WE LIVE our LIFE with a purpose! Even in our young age we need to spend our lives for the sake of others and do good deeds like RIZAL did... We can make our own history not exactly to fight for our country but we can make it in our simple ways.
5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? >The author and director did a good job because they decided to give life to the story of Rizal. And the actors? Well for me, they projected very well because they hitched the hearts and emotions of their audience. And I am one of those.
6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? >I would like to recommend that they make a full blown story of Rizal where there is a complete-detailed story of his life rather than a summary... I know its a bit too hard...so much effort to exert and time to take, but it would really be great and I will gladly appreciate it!

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? > Yes, I like it. This film shows the hardworks of our heroes especially Rizal's. It will serve as the window for the people of today to see yesterday's events.
2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? >Nowadays, Filipinos are taking for granted the people who gave us our freedom. Many of us keep on asking why is it that we have to study History or Rizal when they are all in the past. This movie will enlighten the mind of whoever will watch it.
3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? >I have asked myself before, "Why Rizal is our national hero when he just used his pen and paper to wrote the stories and poems which made him popular?"..After watching the movie I learned that he's the one who awakened the nationalism of the Filipinos. This movie have answered my question.
4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? >Before, I thought I already know Rizal. But after watching the movie, I realized that there are more things about him like he is funny and kinda naughty. hehe
5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? >To put up a film like Rizal is a big effort to make since it is a part of our history. Everything in the film should be true since they can be sued by the government of libel. So I really appreciate all the cast and crew(hehe) of the film for being efficient.
6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? >The next time they will make a film like that, I think they should be more budgeted enough for them to shoot to the real places where it happened to make it more believable and realistic.

SALANGSANG, ELLEN /BSN016 MOVIE REVIEW: RIZAL (ANSWERS 1-5) If I would rate the movie, i will give it 8 ;D from 10 as the highest and 1 as the lowest. I gave the movie a passing mark because I believe that the film shown important information about Dr. Jose Rizal. As I observed the movie attracts the attention of the audience because they presented it as simple as possible to be able to comprehend to any ages. I believe that the movie was able to fulfill its goal like a.) to give important facts about our national hero b.) to be able understand and learn about our history c.) to entertain and etc. Actually I like every scene because it really caught my attention but my personal favorite scene is when Rizal was having his recitation in medicine about the anatomy of human eyes whereas he was given a compliment from his professor because of his excellence. I love that scene because I admire Rizal’s determination, self esteem, dedication and wisdom which prove that Filipinos have equal intellectual capacity to any race. Honestly I really don’t agree about comparing one race to the other, in terms of intellectual or supremacy. I learned in the movie that if you have a determination and will power, you will be able to be successful in your goal. Cesar Montano gave justice to the role of Dr. Jose Rizal from appearance to acting itself. I also think that Joel Torre is a very good actor in that movie. The director and whole members of the production presented it in a different and unique way. I would like to suggest for the enhancement of sound effects and other background music.

1. Did you like this film in general? Why? Yes, because it is a good way of knowing more about Rizal aside from just reading his biography. The film has creatively given our imaginations life and let us enjoy the life of in different way (not just reading). 2. Did you agree with the main theme/purpose that the film wants to convey? Why or why not? Yeah, i think i agree because it conveyed Rizal's life and the significance of his literary work's in his own story. 3. What specifically did you like/dislike about the film? Why? I like the settings of the movie. It's as if it was really taken from the past. Well, not really but its a good effort they came up with that considering the fact that most of the original places were different now. What i didn't like is the part where he dies, he supposed to face the people after the shot while falling to the ground. 4. What lesson or insight have you learned from the film? That we should fight for our country..? Hmm, honestly i don't know. Yeah, maybe i've learned that we should fight for our country. 5. Did the author/actors/director do a good job in the film? Why or why not? Yeah, i think they did a pretty good job there! Well, first, they picked the best actors, and then, they made a good deal making the settings looking historic, and maybe because the script was good too. 6. What particular changes would you like to recommend to further enhance the quality of the film? How could it be further improved? i have no idea. hehehe. Maybe, improve the pronounciation of the Spaniards and maybe some lines for josephine Bracken. hahahaha

1. Yes, I liked the film Jose Rizal movie because i really wanted to watch this film since it talks about the life our national hero. And, also I believe that we, students, should watch this film so that we will have a better understanding of the life of the Filipino people in the past. 2. Yes, I agree with the main purpose that the film wanted to convey because clearly speaking the film wanted the students to learn some things in the movie that can help us to love, honor, and respect our country. 3. What i liked about the film is that it shows the most important part of Jose Rizal life's and the sacrifices he had done for our country. The only thing I don't like about it is that we weren't able to finish the movie. 4. I've learned that for a nation to be success the people of the nation should honor their country and theirselves because if we will not honor our country no one else will. 5. Yes, because they give their best effort to make the film lively so that the audience will really appreciate it. 6. There will be no particular changes that I will recommend because for me it is a great film although it is just a summary of Rizal's life. Maybe if they can, i recommend that they will make another movie like this only it will be a detailed one.

Yes. The film itself gives us an insight what had happened year back then. How they lived under the colony of Spain. The film showed us how the Filipino suffered and how the Spaniards feel superior under their colony. Rizal’s life is also interesting and because of this movie we can appreciate the works of Rizal. I agree with the purpose of the film wants to convey. The film showed us how the Filipino fought for our country and how the Spaniards abused us with their own power. I sort of dislike the movie because of unorganized scenarios that if you didn’t see the first part you can’t follow what the movie wants to convey in that part of the scenario. The lesson that I have learned as a Filipino we should love our country. We should not forget the good traits of the Filipinos. We should also respect our parents and also I learned that we should fight for our rights like Jose Rizal did for our country. They did a good job. The actors acted it well and also they talked like they are expert in Spanish. The film in general is a good film that we can treasure to be able for the next generation to watch it and appreciate how Rizal fought for our country. The quality of the film is good, there are no particular changes that I recommend to further enhance it.

1. Yes, because a lot of movie nowadays are nonsense, but this movie is exceptional because it tackles significant matters that concerns about our country. It mirrors the yesterday and today's Philippines situation. 2. Yes, I agree. Jose Rizal's life and works really contributed a lot in our country's history and current situation. Imagine, if Rizal didn't live at that time maybe Philippines situation is not far from Myanmar now. 3. What I like most about this movie is that it shows how brave and dignified we, Filipinos, are. Not every movie can convey that message to their audience. 4. I learned that we should be thankful enough, because nowadays we have enough freedom to express our insights regarding on the governance of our country, but I think sometimes some are being abusive on this freedom of expression, because if we could notice there is no single president that governed this country that didn't harvest criticism and impeachment complaint. Most of us are not contented with the governance of these officials; we always find something to throw them. I once read that instead of waiting of what can our government can do for us, why not find ways on how to contribute or help the government. True, right? 5. I think the script writer or the author should improve the sequencing or flow of the story, because not everyone who is watching the movie have already the background about the whole life of Rizal and jumping from one chapter of his life and going back again can make the audience a little bit confuse. 6. The sequencing or flow of the story, it should be more organize.
