1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? -The title revolves how Rizal was implicated into recognition because of being a hero in a third-world country(Philippines).
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? -The film started in praise of Rizal's patriotism and his contribution for our freedom to reiterate and to let us remember his greatness. 3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? -The scenes repeated includes the interviews of the historians to various persons related to Rizal. Paciano's interview talks about Rizal's readiness to die before the age of 30, Josephine Bracken's interview symbolizes the speculated letter of retraction that made us doubt Rizal's faithfulness to his nationalistic agenda. The interview to Trining that revealed Rizal's backdown to Pio Valenzuela's offer for allegiance between him and the Katipunan for Revolution. The interview to Father Balaguera who told that Rizal sought repentance and turned back to Catholicism to marry Josephine Bracken. All of those repeated dialogue suggests a doubt to Rizal's credibility for being our national hero.
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) -Sound is used in the scene of the deodorant product that was tentatively planned for purchasing made our class laugh.
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? -The light tone usually represents the happy part of Rizal just like his stay in Dapitan while the dark tone represents the dark days of Rizal in his prison as being a lonely person.
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? -The cuts are made chronologically and it made us excited by revealing us the answers to the questions about Rizal's critical little by little.
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? -The climax for me is the interview to Josephine Bracken because this made us asked the question did Rizal and her actually got married for the letter of retraction and if they really both love each other.
8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? -The loose ends that the film has given to me is the part of Rizal's marriage to Josephine Bracken and the retraction letter. If the speculation is correct then it would degrade the heroism that Rizal made.
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? The film concludes that here in the Philippines people's mentality would be based from this saying, "every man for himself". The film suggests that even Rizal would have an agenda for himself and portrays that Rizal's heroism is just a coincidence.

1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? --> The title "Bayaning Third World" in relation to the film implicates our country's condition wherein Rizal was become a prominent and national hero that was being studied by the movie maker and reviewer and that were shown in the film.
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? --> I think the film was started the way it does because as a Filipino we should know our national symbols/things that represent our country. We should know first our own identity as a Flipino before viewing the person's life who is responsible for the freedom that we are now experiencing.
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? --> There are a lot of scenes and dialogues that had been repeated throughout the film to put on stress on it or to give emphasis to the meaning or ideas that it is trying to say.
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) --> The sound used makes the drama of actors enhanced and it makes the viewer appreciate the scene more also makes them feel the role that the actors were trying to portray.
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? --> The film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes by having the film realistic because the story had happen in 18th century so colored videos where not been used and it was also an effective way for the viewers feel the time when it happen.
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? --> I observed that majority of the scenes had cut when the feelings were intense and that when the scene comes to the part that were still be questionable until now. That of questionable scene makes the viewers answer for themselves what really happen next .
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? --> The scene wherein they were questioning the heroism of Rizal in relation to whether he chose to marry Josephine in exchange for being a traitor to his country/countrymen and being with Spanish that was indicated in retraction paper that they said was signed by Rizal. This scene resolved the central issue of the film maybe not directly but for me it did by making the viewers internalized if it is possible that like what the Spanish priest said that Rizal signed the retraction were when you think that it will not be possible that Rizal would changed in just a moment when more than 30 years of his life he had dedicated himself for the sake of his country/countrymen as manifested in his works and writings.
8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? --> For me, the film was made that way having loose ends because it leaves us,its viewers the opportunity to think for ourselves by having faith to our national hero and knowing him by inside and not by those of his critics had said about him.
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? --> The film concludes on this particular image because it was trying to show the Filipino is not just a Filipino because they have Rizal who has an extra ordinary mind whose doing extraordinary things not for himself but for all of the Filipino. For whatever bad things some people said about him, his works and writings would be the living legacy that will prove them wrong.

2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? > The film started by cherishng the nationalism and patriotism of Rizal through his works that had made him a real genius until this generation. 3. 1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? *Bayaning 3rd world...it means that the country is still in the process of developing. because the time when Rizal become the national hero, our country is in that stage of what we call (third world)...
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? *because it is a detective story... the film wants the viewer to realized the facts about Rizal..
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? *if there are dialogues in the film that was being repeated i think that is their way on how the viewers will try to put those words in their minds to understand and be interested on the things..
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.) *the sound was good and made the film realistic...
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes? *the film is in black and white but it doesn't hindered the viewers amusement in the film. they are tryng to make some flash back on what had happened in the past so they used the black and white tone of those scenes while when the detectives are being in focused they used the colored tone to have some differences.
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function? * the scenes are cut in every after situation that the detectives questions were being answered. and then comes another question then go back to the film where in the perfect timing was done.. so great! =)
7. What specific scene constitutes the film's climax? How does this scene resolve the central issue of the film? * the issue of Rizal's Retraction. They say that Rizal died a catholic despite of him being a mason through his signed letter. the scene resolve the central issue by showing the interviews done in Rizal's relatives and also in the friar.
8. Does the film leave any disunities (loose ends) at the end? If so, what does it suggest? *yes! this made me conclude that his controversies made his life more interesting and it only made him more famous not only during his time but now and in the future generations.
9. Why does the film conclude on this particular image? *Jose Rizal being a national hero considering his great influence not only in the Philippines but to other countries he had gone also with his works, the great impact he left with our history as a country and culture as its citizen, his weight to some indigenous religions also has his own flaws and faults because he is also a human being capable of doing those things. Rizal really don’t want to be a hero, he just wanted to prove his great passion and love for our country. Indeed, Rizal chose to die because it is one way to give credence and weight to his beliefs and philosophy.

1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole? The title literally means that it is about a hero, RIzal itself, who belong to a third world country, the Philippines. Thus, being a hero in a 3rd world country.
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does? the film started in sort of like a documentary film. It clearly expresses the message to the viewers with touch of humor as well as to pay an honor to Rizal. 3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve? There are a lot of scenes repeated on the movie like his execution i think it will remind us that what happened in earlier times are just waiting for the time for it to happen again.
