Guide Questions to Critical Assessment of Bayaning Third World
1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole?
-bayaning third world, I think, this title shows a contrast between a hero in a country whose been under colonization, how he makes himself, how he strived for success and finally become the national hero from those who had wealth, power and “name” and then became a hero.
2. Why does the film start in the way that it does?
-to get our attention to why does Rizal became our national hero..
3. Are there any motifs (scenes, images) of dialogue which are repeated? What purpose do they serve?
-I think repetitions were made to put emphasis on the message they want to imply.
4. Is sound used in any vivid ways either to enhance the film? (i.e. Enhance drama, heighten tension or conflict, disorient the viewer, etc.)
-yes..somehow it made us put our attention on what the scene was trying to say.
5. How does the film use color or light/dark to suggest tone and mood in different scenes?
-some how, the color, adds tension to the movie, how mysterious and complicated the life of Rizal was
6. How and when are scenes cut? Are there any patterns in the way the cuts function?
-the cutting of the scenes, gave the viewers the chance to think, also it adds thrill to the movie.

-yes it does..for us viewers to think of Rizal, to who he really was, to accept or reject his “being-the-national-hero” with the clips that we had watched.
